- KMKristina McGreadyMay 9, 20262.0My husband I visited The Red Lion recently for a mid week lunch. The pub is nicely set out, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The service was also attentive enough, no issues there. However, the food was a real disappointment. My husband's meal was OK, but was served with no garnish whatsoever. My meal was missing 2 of the ingredients from the description (one of which was potatoes, so my meal had no carbohydrate) and what did arrive was made from the cheapest ingredients which were far from fresh. It looked like it had been thrown on the plate, some salad items not even chopped up, including a pile of cheap unstoned olives from a jar. It was unappetising and I left hungry. It felt like no care was put into the plates, which is a shame as the pub is pleasant. I don't like leaving a poor review and as it seemed the place has a lot going for it, it is a shame that the food should let it down. If the kitchen doesn't have the ingredients for the dishes, please just say so! It would be much better all around.

The fish was massive, good quality Cumberland sausage and I had the red lion burger, a stack of chicken, bacon and fried egg which was spot on. Friendly staff and a good friendly atmosphere in the pub. Will go again.

Callum greeted us and was our server for the evening, he was fantastic throughout. Very friendly, patient and professional, nothing was too much bother for him. A great asset to your team.
